After Losing to Lyon, PSG Supporters Whistled at the Mention of Messi

Before Paris St. Germain suffered their seventh loss of 2023 at home to Lyon, several fans blew whistles in response to Lionel Messi's name.

The Argentine, whose contract expires this summer, has been linked to Barcelona. In his two seasons with the team, he has experienced two Champions League last-16 exits.

Whistles were heard as his name was called out beforehand, but other supporters screamed his name in encouragement.
The sole goal was scored by Lyon forward Bradley Barcola, who was booed off the field.

Due to Lyon's bus needing to drive around the city because it could not go under a bridge, the game started ten minutes later than scheduled.
After going undefeated in all 22 games prior to the break, PSG has lost seven of their last 18 games across all competitions.

In addition to discussing a contract extension with PSG, Messi has also been approached by Barcelona about a potential return to the team where he played for the majority of his career. For the team, he has scored 29 goals in 67 games.
