African Women’s Volleyball Champioships: Nigeria lose last match against Algeria to finish 6th

The Nigeria women’s volleyball team has ended their campaign at the ongoing 2023 African Senior Women’s Nations Volleyball Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon on a losing note.
Nigeria lost 1-3 to Algeria (18-25, 13-25, 25-23, 17-25) in the 5th to 6th classification match at the Palais Polyvalent des Sports Yaoundé on Thursday to finish in sixth position at the tournament.
The Nigerian ladies reached the knockout round of the Championship with two wins and two defeats in the group stages.
They were defeated by Kenya in the quarter-final, crashing out of the medal zone but still had the classification matches to look up to.
They beat Morocco 3-0 in their first classification match on Wednesday before losing their final classification match 3-1 to Algeria on Thursday.
Algeria won the first two quarters by 25-18, 25-13 respectively before Nigeria responded strongly in the 3rd quarter with a 23-25 win.
The North African ladies came roaring out In the fourth set with a 25-17 win to finish 5th as Team Nigeria ended their campaign in the 6th position.
