AFL: Wydad AC claims vital 1-0 away victory against Enyimba

Wydad AC delivered a composed and clinical performance, securing a crucial 1-0 victory on the road against Enyimba in the first leg of the African Football League, held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
 
Captain Yahya Jabrane expertly converted a penalty, granting the North African team a confidence-boosting advantage. In an unexpected turn of events, the Moroccans outperformed their hosts from the beginning.
 
Enyimba did eventually regain their rhythm and came close to scoring when Mbaoma Chijioke's remarkable strike hit the crossbar in the early minutes of the first half. However, their momentum was interrupted when Ayoub El Amloud was fouled in the penalty area, leading to a penalty that was calmly converted by Captain Jabrane just before halftime.
 
In the second half, Ekene Awazie had a chance to equalize, but his shot was denied by the goalkeeper, much to the disappointment of the home crowd. Despite sending numbers forward in search of an equalizer, Enyimba's efforts were thwarted by Wydad's resolute defense and a lack of precision in front of the goal.
 
It proved to be a frustrating encounter for the Nigerians, who struggled to breach Wydad's steadfast defensive line. They now face an even more challenging task when the two teams meet again in a week's time at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
