Ace skit maker, Mr Macaroni steals show as 5th Cohesion Football Tournament lights up Lagos

Posted : 20 December 2023

It was a fun-filled moment on Tuesday as the popular skit maker and comedian, Adebowale Adedayo 'Mr Macaroni,' arrived at the venue of the 5th Cohesion Football competition, ongoing at the Union Bank Stable, Surulere, Lagos.

Mr Macaroni, known for his energetic displays in his skits, was a special guest of honor at one of the best grassroots football development tournaments, which had 42 participating teams.

How I Got My Brand Name, Mr. MACARONI – Popular Comedian, DEBO ADEBAYO ...

However, the popular skit maker expressed his fondness for football, saying he loves watching one of the greatest footballers of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo, and the current African Footballer of the Year, Nigeria's Victor Osimhen.

The two-day annual football competition, according to the organizers, was aimed at engaging at-risk children across different local government areas in Lagos and Ogun State, just to give them hope in football activities.

The 2023 tournament features 32 under-13 male teams and, for the very first time, 10 female teams.

Mr Macaroni said he was excited about the prospects of the organizers aimed at the grassroots development of football in Lagos State.

"I love football because I am attracted to Cristiano Ronaldo so much, so I find myself following him to any club he is playing for.

"I enjoy watching football because it is a sport that keeps one lively and entertained. I love to watch Ronaldo and recently, our own Victor Osimhen, but he cannot take the place of Ronaldo in my heart.

"I do follow Osimhen the way I follow Ronaldo because he is doing us proud, and the world is following his success, and I think it is also good to support our own.

"Osimhen is also a product of grassroots football, so he needs to support this initiative; we also need to support or pay more attention to our grassroots football development as well," he said.

Mr Macaroni added that potentials abound in Nigeria waiting to be discovered; hence, there is a need to encourage more grassroots competitions to expose them.

He equally stated that having a big tournament with 42 teams was not an easy feat; hence, more support should be given to the Cohesion Football Tournament.

The well-traveled skit maker, however, doled out some cash to the outstanding players of the tournament.

The final of the two-day annual football competition will be played at the same venue on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
