AC Milan secured a 2-0 victory over Empoli on Saturday, with second-half goals from Rafael Leao and Santiago Gimenez ensuring all three points in a Serie A clash that saw both teams finish with 10 men. Milan coach Sergio Conceicao made key substitutions after a sluggish first half, bringing on Leao, Gimenez, and Christian Pulisic, which paid off as all three played a part in the win.
The match became more intense after Milan was reduced to 10 players in the 55th minute when Fikayo Tomori received a second yellow card. However, Empoli's Luca Marianucci was sent off for a violent kick at Gimenez following a VAR review, restoring the numerical balance between the teams.
Leao broke the deadlock in the 68th minute with a powerful header from Pulisic's cross, and Gimenez sealed the win with a brilliant curling shot 14 minutes later. Milan, currently seventh in Serie A with 38 points, will next face Feyenoord in the Champions League knockout playoffs on Wednesday.
