AC Milan to discuss loan deal for Super Eagles-eligible player with Chelsea
Posted : 20 June 2023
AC Milan has revived their interest in Carney Chukwuemeka, an English U20 international of Nigerian descent, after being priced out of a move last summer when Chelsea secured his services.
While the talented midfielder is highly regarded by Chelsea, there are no plans to include a buy option if he is loaned out this summer.
Despite his undeniable quality, Chukwuemeka struggled for playing time in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, featuring in just two starts out of a possible fifty across all competitions.
According to reports, AC Milan and Chelsea have engaged in discussions regarding a potential move for Chukwuemeka to the Rossoneri, with further talks expected to take place this week.
AC Milan is actively seeking a central midfielder following the departures of Tiémoué Bakayoko and Aster Vranckx, and they may also part ways with Yacine Adli.
Additionally, the injury suffered by Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer at the end of last season could sideline him for the beginning of the 2023-2024 campaign.
In the previous season, Chukwuemeka made fifteen appearances, accumulating 362 minutes of playing time.
