AC Milan has reached an agreement to sign Manchester City captain Kyle Walker on loan for the remainder of the season, with an option to make the move permanent in the summer. The 34-year-old full-back, who has played 316 matches for City, is set to travel to Italy for a medical after expressing his desire to explore opportunities abroad. Walker's last appearance for City was on January 4 against West Ham, after which he discussed his future with manager Pep Guardiola.
Walker, a key player in City's six Premier League title victories under Guardiola since joining from Tottenham for £50 million in 2017, was named joint-captain of the team in 2023. He has represented England 93 times and has been a vital figure in City's leadership structure.
Although initially linked to a move to the Saudi Pro League, Walker opted for a switch to Serie A, where AC Milan has also been linked with Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, though Italian registration rules allow only one UK player to be signed this window.
Meanwhile, Manchester City has been active in the January transfer market, making three signings for a combined £123 million. Egypt forward Omar Marmoush joined from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59 million, following the arrivals of Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £30 million and Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £33.6 million. These additions signal City's focus on strengthening their squad amid Walker's impending departure.
