AC Milan, the former Serie A champions, are set to make an improved offer of €25 million for Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze, who seems likely to depart Villarreal after six years at the club.
Chukwueze's contract is due to expire at the end of the next season, but he has decided against signing an extension.
The 24-year-old winger is open to a move abroad, with Real Madrid also showing interest in him.
However, Milan has emerged as the most probable destination, as negotiations between the Rossoneri and Villarreal have already begun.
Initially, Milan submitted a bid of €15 million for Chukwueze, which was rejected by Villarreal, who demanded at least €35 million.
Undeterred, AC Milan is determined to secure Chukwueze's signature and is preparing an improved bid of around €25 million.
The club has already agreed on personal terms with the Nigerian forward, offering him €4 million per year.
With personal terms settled, the only thing left for the transfer to be completed is for Villarreal to accept AC Milan's bid, allowing Chukwueze to potentially embark on a new chapter in his career with the Italian club.
