Posted : 26 August 2024

Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club lights up Offa, in the Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, as the final round of selections for the club's Players Talent Hunt and Development Programme takes center stage.

It's the assembly, re-assessment, and final selection process for choosing the 30 players for the PTDP programme, the U-19 N-Youth League Cup, and the ABS FC Nigeria National League (NNL) team.

The PTDP initiative aims to discover players ready for transfer to European markets. The programme is a collaborative effort with ABS FC's international partners.

At the opening ceremony held at the Zeems Sports Arena today, Sunday, Aug. 25, in Offa, the Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, said that the process was done based on merit, to give credibility to the entire exercise.

He said that the final 30 for the PTDP project would go into camp after being unveiled on Thursday, in Ilorin.

Chief Chukwuemeka added that Offa was chosen to allow for maximum concentration, as he called for support for the successful completion of the project.

The nationwide selection process began a month ago in the North West (Kaduna) and passed through the North East (Bauchi), South South (Calabar), South East (Owerri), and South West (Ado-Ekiti), concluding in North Central (Ilorin), where over 100 talents were discovered.

The process of selecting the final 30 continues at the Oloffa Stadium in Offa tomorrow.

The Head Coach for the project, Coach Yusuf Salihu, while addressing the players, urged them to maintain discipline, dedication, and professionalism, noting that various criteria were considered during the Zonal and final selection exercises.

The PTDP initiative is expected to boost the country's football development and increase the number of Nigerian players competing at the highest level globally.

Shogo Shodunnke, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Phreestyle Sport, is the consultant for the project.
