ABS FC Confirms Participation in Nigeria National League Next Season

Posted : 09 August 2024

Against all odds, Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club (ABS FC) will compete in the second-tier league, Nigeria National League (NNL), in the upcoming 2024/2025 season, according to the club's management. The team was among the 12 NNL teams relegated to the Nationwide League One (NLO) after the 2023/2024 season, a setback attributed to environmental factors. The junior team also participated in the NLO during the same season.

Addressing accredited volunteers ahead of the North Central leg of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Players' Talent Hunt and Development Programme in Ilorin, the team's Coordinator, Jimoh Bashir, confirmed that ABS FC will retain its professional status.

Bashir highlighted that the ongoing talent hunt initiative aims to discover talents for European football markets, the ABS FC U-19 Youth Team, and the ABS FC main team. The U-19 team is set to participate in the N-Youth League Cup, an elite competition designed for teenagers and young adults between the ages of 16-19.

The ABS FC Players' Talent Hunt and Development Programme is being conducted in collaboration with foreign partners, with Shogo Shodunke serving as the consultant. Bashir emphasized that with this renewed opportunity to play in the NNL, the club is solidifying its preparations and will soon announce the names of their coaches.

He expressed gratitude to the club's proprietor, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the Chairman, Seni Saraki, and the Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, for the opportunity, which the team hopes to justify in the upcoming season.
