Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia has put the loss to Niger Tornadoes of Minna in the Match Day 21 encounter of the Nigeria Premier Football League behind them to focus on the next game.
The Pride of Abia will face off against Kwara United of Ilorin in a Match Day 22 encounter at Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
Having earned only one point out of a possible six in the last two games, the players are eager to make amends by securing a vital win over the Ilorin-based side.
Meanwhile, the captain of the club, Augustine Njoku, has tendered an unreserved apology to the fans of the club for the loss against Niger Tornadoes.
Recall that Abia Warriors lost 1-0 to Niger Tornadoes against the fans' expectations.
He also assured them of victory in tomorrow's game. And he further appealed to them to come all out and cheer the team to victory.
"I want to use this opportunity to say sorry to our fans for the loss last weekend against Niger Tornadoes in Kaduna. We are very, very sorry, and I apologize on behalf of the team.
"I want to make you guys (our fans) a promise that come tomorrow against Kwara United, we're gonna put our heads together to make sure that we get the maximum points.
"We are not leaving any stone unturned; we will make sure we get nothing less than the maximum points come tomorrow with God on our side.
"I plead with you all to come out en masse and cheer us to victory. God bless you all."
Abia Warriors' Ali Ishaku is out with a knee injury, while Kelechi Nnochiri has commenced light training having been out with an ankle injury.
The new boy, Igwe Igweuzo, has recovered from a slight injury and trained with the rest of the squad.
