Abia Warriors' players proceed on Break

Posted : 12 July 2024

Abia Warriors players and officials have proceeded on a 10-day break, effective from July 11, 2024.

The break, which was supposed to occur earlier, was delayed due to the State Governor's planned reception for the team, which will now take place when they resume.

In a brief ceremony held at the Warriors Secretariat in Umuahia, the Chairman of the club, Coach John Obuh, addressed the players and officials, thanking them for the achievements they recorded last season. He noted that the team reached the final of the President Federation Cup for the first time in the club's history, a feat that has drawn significant attention to the club and raised corresponding expectations.

He also urged the players to redouble their efforts ahead of the new season, as expectations from fans and followers of the club will be higher.

The former Nigeria national U-20 and U-17 coach later introduced the new Technical Adviser of the team, Coach Imama Amapakabo, to the players.

In his remarks, Coach Imama thanked the Chairman for the opportunity to return to the club and expressed optimism that his second spell would be an impressive one for the team.

On his part, the former interim Head Coach, Bethel Oji, welcomed Coach Imama and asked the players to extend to him the same support they had given during his tenure.

Responding on behalf of the players, team captain Augustine Njoku thanked the Chairman for his immense support, noting that the welfare packages they enjoyed throughout the 2024/2025 season were unprecedented.

The players and officials will resume after the break on July 21, 2024.
