Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia has arrived in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, ahead of their Nigeria Premier Football League midweek fixture against Kwara United.
Umu Chineke will look to build on their victory over reigning champions, Enugu Rangers, in their last league fixture at the Umuahia Township Stadium by securing a positive result in Ilorin.
The Harmony Boys have been in impressive home form, and Abia Warriors’ goalkeeper, Nmecha Johnson, acknowledges the challenge ahead but insists the team is well-prepared for the clash.
"It's not going to be an easy game because we know why we are here. Kwara United is a good side, and considering their position on the table, it will be a tough match, but we are very prepared."
The hosts are managed by former Abia Warriors assistant coach, Tunde Sani.
Their squad also includes former Abia Warriors players, Ozor Philip and Jimoh Gbadamosi, and Nmecha is looking forward to facing his former teammates.
"It's normal in football—players come and go. You meet different people and play against them. I know the quality they have, so we are very prepared and looking forward to facing them again."
Abia Warriors currently sit in 4th place on the NPFL table, while Kwara United are in 10th place.
