Abia Warriors FC not bothered with Shooting Stars' home invincibility, says goalkeeper

Abia Warriors' veteran goalkeeper, Femi Thomas, has boasted about his team's chances of securing a win in Ibadan against league title-chasing Shooting Stars SC, despite their impressive home record.

Thomas revealed that the target against Shooting Stars Club of Ibadan was victory and not their pedigree.

Both sides will clash in a Match Day 34 of the 2024 Nigeria Premier Football League fixture at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.

According to Thomas, the current crop of players at Abia Warriors is young and energetic, capable of achieving a positive result against the Oluyole Warriors on Sunday.

"Shooting, Rangers, etc., is just a name. Most of the players are very young.

"Especially a team like Abia Warriors, we have a very young team which is very mobile on the field of play.

"It should be motivating because when we were still very young, if you played against big teams like Rangers and Shooting Stars, we would want to showcase our talents. But nowadays, it is just about the name.

"For me to urge them to give their 101% performance, I would rather say they should come out on Sunday and enjoy the game very well.

"We don't want to play Shooting Stars; we want to play their 11 on the field of play. We are hoping for the best result.

"We are here to enjoy the game, and secondly, we have it in the back of our minds because our last game was not very good as we lost at home.

"Our focus is on Shooting Stars, and we are giving our 101% for the game. We want to feel good after the game and pray for a positive result."
