2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 4: Abia Warriors FC coach Amapakabo sees positive ahead of Kano Pillars' clash

The Technical Adviser of Abia Warriors, Imama Amapakabo, is expecting a positive outing against the visiting Kano Pillars for the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 4 fixture.

The must-win match for the Ochendo Boys against Sai Masu Gida will be played at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.

In their previous encounters during the 2023/2024 season, Chineke completed a league double over Sai Masu Gida, first triumphing in Umuahia and then defeating the Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium in the reverse fixture, where a second-half wonder strike from Abia Warriors' midfield maestro, Daniel Ijeh, decided the game.

However, Kano Pillars will be out for revenge, having suffered three defeats — twice in the league and a President Federation Cup semi-final elimination — at the hands of Abia Warriors last season.

The Warriors will look to improve on the two away draws they recorded in their last two matches by aiming for maximum points, a sentiment shared by Abia Warriors coach Imama Amapakabo. He also acknowledged that the game will be difficult, given the opponents' recent performance.

"Every team that loses at home will want to come out in the next game to regain the lost points.

"Pillars is a team you can never underrate despite that home loss. We will give them their due respect, and I think they should also give us ours because they know we need to get back to winning ways as well," the coach said.

He continued, "It's going to be an exciting game. I think both sides will want to play football, so it will be a wonderful sight for the spectators. It's going to be a difficult game like any other we play this season."

Uzonwanne Chinedu and Izuchukwu Daniel are out of Abia Warriors due to illness, while Yakub Hammed is sidelined with a mild injury.
