Abia Comets Football Club of Umuahia has undergone a managerial change with the appointment of Tony Oggaranduku as the new Technical Director/Technical Adviser of the club.
With the appointment of Coach Ogharanduku as the Technical Director/Technical Adviser of the club, the position of Kevin Ejeh, who has only won one out of five matches as the Head Coach, is now hanging in the balance.
The Chairman of the club, Chief Boniface Alozie Uche, while introducing the new Technical Director/Technical Adviser, said that Tony Ogharanduku is the right man to lead Abia Comets out of their current situation due to his experienced and well-known knowledge of the game.
Ogharanduku, in an interview after the completion and signing of his contract, revealed that he is going to join forces with everyone at the club to lift Abia Comets out of the current situation but promised that the team will produce good performances under his watch as Technical Director/Technical Adviser.
“I want to use this medium to thank the chairman, Chief Boniface Alozie Uche, and everyone working with Abia Comets, who are presently here,” he said. “I strongly believe that we are going to work harder to get ourselves out of the situation we are presently facing. Yes, I also believe that everyone has a role to play in helping, improving, and supporting the team for us to get out of the drop zone. So that is what we are going to do to improve the team moving forward,” he concluded.
Tony Ogharanduku, during his professional football career, played for the likes of Plateau United, New Jets of Jos, Rangers International, and Wikki Tourist.
The Delta State-born tactician, who has a CAF B coaching license, previously coached teams like Mighty Jets of Jos, Mees Palace Football Academy, Wikki Tourist as a player/Coach, also coached in Enyimba International during the 2023/24 season and FC Taraba, Giwa FC.
Ogharanduku will take charge of the team as they continue preparations ahead of this week's Match Day 6 encounter away against Abeokuta Stormers on Friday in Ijebu Ode.
