According to Aaron Rodgers, he wants to join the New York Jets after an 18-year career with the Green Bay Packers.
Green Bay gave Rodgers, 39, permission to talk to the Jets about a potential trade while still making him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL last year.
The four-time MVP of the NFL met with Jets representatives last week in his home state of California.
“I've already made my decision - this is just clearing things up for everybody that's interested,” he said.
Speaking to The Pat McAfee show he said: "I think since Friday I've made it clear that my intention was to play and my intention was to play for the New York Jets. I haven't been holding anything up at this point, it's been compensation that the Packers are trying to get for me, and kind of digging their heels in," he said
According to sources, a contract and trade terms have not yet been decided. Before leaving for the retreat, he claimed he was 90% certain he was retiring.
At the conclusion of the 2010 season, Rodgers assisted Green Bay in winning the Super Bowl, but since the Packers' leadership traded up to choose Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 draft, their relationship has been tense.

Green Bay decided to allow Rodgers participate more in team meetings and amended his contract, but despite earning the NFL MVP award in 2020 and 2021, Rodgers hasn't been able to capture a second Super Bowl.
He also had not said if he would retire, play for another team, or stay with the Packers after they failed to make the playoffs the previous year.
"From my side all the love, appreciation and gratitude for everything Green Bay has done for me," Rodgers said.
"It is what it is. The Packers would like to move on. They've let me know that in so many words, they've let other people know that in direct words.
"And because I still have that fire and I want to play, I'd like to play in New York, it's just a matter of getting that done at this point."
The Jets, who have the longest playoff drought in the NFL (12 years) and haven't had a winning campaign since 2015, were on the market for a new starting quarterback after losing confidence in 23-year-old Zach Wilson, the second-round pick in 2021, last season.
After Derek Carr, 31, left the Las Vegas Raiders and signed with the New Orleans Saints, they concentrated on Rodgers.
With the Packers for the entirety of his NFL career, Rodgers is first in team history for touchdown passes (475) and passing yards (59,055), trailing only Brett Favre in both categories.
