8th Annual Sports Betting West Africa to attract over 600 Exhibitors, Suppliers other Stakeholders - organisers

Posted : 24 August 2023
The organisers of the 8th Annual Sports Betting West Africa (SBWA) on Wednesday said that the annual conference was expecting over 600 exhibitors, suppliers, regulators and other stakeholders in attendance.

Mr Yudi Soetjiptadi Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eventus International organisers of the 8th Annual Sports Betting West Africa made the revelation in an exclusive interview with Africa Sport Network (ASN) on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the event held at the Federal Palace Hotels and Casino, Ahmadu Bello, Victoria Island, Lagos.

ASN exclusively reports that SBWA+ conference and exhibition will last for three days from Aug. 23 to 25.

The Conference and Exhibition has consistently proven to be not merely an esteemed gaming summit and exhibition, but also a vital focus for African operators, regulators and others in the gaming ecosystem.

Each addition of the summit has been marked with great success while the 2023 according to the organisers is expected to be no exception.

He further revealed that the organisers had seen great potentials in Africa and West Africa, thus the need for the exhibition and conference to further boost the industry.

``We are in West Africa because we saw the opportunity in Africa and that gaming industry is booming and attracting international investors as well as suppliers who are willing to invest.

``We noticed that there is no platform for the gaming industry to roam, so, we created this platform to give the avenue needed for the various stakeholders in the industry to meet, take decisions and invite the regulators to come and advance their cause.

``We want to ask questions, share knowledge and meet with potential clients,'' he said.

Soetjiptadi said that the gaming industry would always push for responsible adventures from the pointers.

``We always push for responsible gaming programme where we encourage the operators to live with players protection and also protect the industry.

``Our audience keeps growing from year to year, we started with 200 to 300 participants, but now, we are expecting over 600 exhibitors, suppliers.

``There was a time we had a lull in attendance occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, but now, we are picking up,'' he said.

One of the speakers at the conference and a Gaming Consultant, Mr Foye Johnson Adewale said that the conference had helped in many ways to improve the industry.

``One of the good things that this conference has done for us over the past eight years is that it has given us a hub where all the stakeholders meet and share views, rub minds and connect on how to grow the gaming space.

``Over the years, one of the challenges we have is the synergy between the operators and the lottery board. We failed to understand ourselves and do fight a lot.

``The Lottery board has a wrong impression that the gaming industry want to evade tax, while the operators think that the Lottery board is out to exploit them in form of multiple taxation.

``Conferences like this give us the avenue to speak and engage in mutual understanding,'' he said.

A representatives of a Gaming Company, Halla Bet, Mrs Winifred Okpala, an Operation Manager also said that the company had a lot to offer in the gaming business

``We have a lot to offer because we want to be a game changer in the gaming industry,'' she said.
