2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 9: 3SC coach, Ogunbote, commends team's mentality in victory over Akwa United FC

The Chief Tactician of the Oluyole Warriors, Gbenga Ogunbote, has commended his team's resilience and mentality in their hard-fought 2-1 victory over the visiting Akwa United FC. 


The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 9, played at the Lekan Salami Stadium Adamasingba in Ibadan, saw the Shooting Stars SC of Ibadan labor to impress the home fans as the Promise Keepers put up a stern challenge.

It was, however, a sweet victory that calmed the nerves of the die-hard fans in Ibadan as their beloved team ground out the much-needed maximum points. 


Ogunbote, the team's man at the center of controversy, commended the players for their determination to secure the 2-1 home win over Akwa United. 


The Oluyole Warriors have now recorded back-to-back home victories in Match Day 9 of the NPFL, following a 1-0 win against Katsina United in their last outing at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. 


Ogunbote acknowledged the need for synergy among his players to ensure a more improved performance. 


"It’s beyond just having a team. When you have players who want to play for you, they will give it their all, and you will get good results. 


"They must also tell themselves, 'No matter the situation, head or tail, we must win.' 


"It’s the determination of every player that brings about a win. Some miss chances because of anxiety. They may be unable to control their emotions, which can rob their team of opportunities. 


"However, it’s good when synergy develops gradually. The moment we achieve that, we’ll be able to create more goal-scoring opportunities. 


"By the time the synergy becomes top-notch, we can be assured that, even when we close our eyes, the opportunities will be created and converted."
