2025 President Federation Cup: Warri Wolves walk over Shooting Stars

Posted : 22 March 2025

Delta State’s representatives in the ongoing President Federation Cup, Warri Wolves Football Club, have qualified for the quarter-final stage of the competition without kicking a ball.

The qualification follows the expulsion of their opponents in the Round of 32, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), from the tournament.

The Oluyole Warriors secured their spot in the Round of 32 on Wednesday morning without playing a match, as their opponents, Zamfara United FC, failed to show up for their Round of 64 fixture at the Area 3 Playground in Abuja.

The NFF, in a letter signed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Director of Competitions, Ms. Ruth David, on behalf of the NFF General Secretary, explained the reasons Shooting Stars were disqualified from the competition, which involved a proven case of forgery.

The federation confirmed that the Ibadan-based club fielded five ineligible players who were not registered with the NFF for this edition of the competition in the walkover match against Zamfara United.

The players involved in the scandal are:
1) Samuel Okon
2) Sodiq Ibrahim
3) Ephraim Nwachukwu
4) Nonso Nzediegwu
5) Ukeme Williams

The disqualification of Shooting Stars means that Warri Wolves, who would have played them in the Round of 32, have automatically qualified for the quarter-final stage, as Zamfara United failed to honor the match in Abuja and were officially walked over by the appointed match officials.
