Defending champions Kwara United Football Club and Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS), both from Ilorin, will clash in the final match of the 2025 President Federation Cup competition in Kwara.
The match, scheduled for the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex in Ilorin, is a repeat of the 2024 event.
The fixture emerged after both sides advanced to the state final from the semi-final stage, which was concluded on Tuesday.
Kwara United, which received a bye into the semi-finals, advanced to the final after defeating their Under-19 team 4-2 on penalty kicks, following a goalless draw in regulation time.
The highly competitive and dramatic encounter brought out the best from both sides at the Main Pitch of the Kwara Football Academy in Ilorin.
The youth team dominated the game, showing skill and determination to send a strong message to their club’s head coach, Tunde Sanni, about their potential inclusion in the senior team.
Sanni had to introduce regular team members Wasiu Jimoh, Sodeeq Yusuf, and Sanni Nurudeen to immediately enhance their attacking threats, with Jimoh and Yusuf coming close to scoring.
However, the Under-19 team’s goalkeeper, Kolawole Sheriff, made brilliant saves.
They even had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 75th minute when Kazeem Teslim was fouled in the penalty area.
But Mohammed Abdullah’s penalty kick was saved by Adamu Abubakar, ensuring the match ended in a stalemate after 90 minutes.
ABS FC, who also received a bye into the semi-finals, defeated Ka’ah FA 3-0 in the second semi-final to reach the final.
Goals from Ayoku AbdulRaheem in the 41st minute, Ajina Boluwatife in the 47th minute, and Zingak Sabo in the 90th minute gave the Nigeria National League (NNL) side the edge.
