Heartland Queens Technical Adviser, Obi Ogbala, has assured fans of a quick turnaround in the team's fortunes in the ongoing Nigerian top-flight league.
The Owerri Landladies are still searching for the right formula and an immediate breakthrough in the four-week-old premier league.
The Owerri side made headlines for the right reasons in the previous season, securing a maiden appearance in the prestigious Super Six playoffs in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. However, four games into the current season, they are yet to secure an outright win in both their home and away fixtures.
The determined coach of the Owerri team, Ogbala, insists that his side will soon find their rhythm and reclaim their rightful place among the league’s elite teams.
"Well, the league is a marathon. It’s still early, and we continue to fight for positive results, which will surely come. I can confidently assure you that the wins will come very soon.
"I strongly believe that the expected victories will arrive in no distant time. I cannot say for certain whether it will be today or tomorrow, but what I do know is that the wins will definitely come.
"Yes, we are facing Dannaz Ladies in our next home match. It’s a good matchup; they are a strong side too. But as I said earlier, we are continuing the fight to claim our rightful place in the league.
"What I know for sure is that once we start winning, it will be the turning point for us. We will smile, and that will be the magic wand that propels us forward. We will surely secure our rightful position in the group standings," said the soft-spoken coach.
Regarding his team's heavy defeat against two-season campaigners, Remo Stars Ladies, Ogbala admitted that errors were made but assured that corrections have been implemented to prevent a recurrence.
"Honestly, we were not in control of the ball. We gave away possession too often, which put us under pressure, leading to the team's collapse. When the goals started coming, we couldn’t stop them, making it seem like we weren’t even in the game.
"The girls fought well, making a quick comeback after Remo Stars Ladies took the lead. However, when we returned from the break, there were too many mistakes that the opponents capitalized on. Well, that’s football, and that game is now in the past," Ogbala concluded.
The Owerri side currently sits seventh in the eight-team Group A standings, with just one point—nine points behind the leaders, Remo Stars Ladies.
