Three goals were disallowed by the referee against Ibom Angels FC in their Matchday Four clash with Benue Queens FC.
The encounter was part of the NWFL Premiership 25 and took place at the Uyo Township Stadium.
Two first-half goals from Ugobest Osuji and Chioma Ashiegbu, along with another goal from Abasifon Uwa in the second half, were all disallowed. This left the home team and the large crowd that turned out for the game in great anger.
With high spirits at the blast of the whistle, the Orange Ladies scored one of the fastest goals of the season through Wami Georgeline in the 3rd minute.
However, the disallowed goals at different intervals of the game did not dampen the determination, perseverance, and high spirits of the Uyo LandLadies, who scored their winning goal in stoppage time of the first half through Kelechi Chukwunlem. Anastasia Emefo scored the only goal for the visitors in the 10th minute of the encounter.
Speaking after the game, coach Edwin Okon described the match as quite challenging and praised his players for securing the vital three points. He also expressed optimism about achieving more positive results before the end of the first round.
"My players are gradually adapting to the system, and I thank them so much."
"This is not a championship; this is the Premier League, and women's football is one of the most difficult games. So, I thank God for the three points, as this will boost the players' confidence as the league progresses."
The tactician praised the fans for their unwavering support and massive turnout at the stadium, adding that the team will leave no stone unturned in meeting expectations.
Ibom Angels' next game will be against FC Robo in Lagos on Wednesday. FC Robo, meanwhile, drew 2-2 against visiting Naija Ratels in their Matchday Four encounter in Lagos.
