2025 NWFL Match Day 1: Bayelsa Queens pip Delta Queens

Delta Queens of Asaba started their campaign in the 2025 NWFL season on a promising note, losing narrowly to Bayelsa Queens 1-0 yesterday at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.


The Oborevbori girls held their hosts until the dying minutes of the pulsating encounter.


The match demonstrated the readiness of the Peter Dedevbo-led side to reclaim the Women’s Premier League title they won two seasons ago. The girls fired on all cylinders, but the tough defense of the Bayelsa Queens thwarted their efforts.


The Asaba Landladies will next play host to Benue Queens on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, inside the main bowl of the magnificent Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.


The Secretary of the club, Joy Oyibo, announced that gates will be open free of charge to fans and supporters of Delta’s darling team, with kickoff time fixed for 4:00 PM.


The General Manager of the team, Mercy Awhana, urged all lovers of women’s football to turn out in their numbers and cheer the team to victory.
