2025 NLO season kicks of April 23

The Nationwide League One (NLO) Secretariat has officially confirmed the commencement of the 2025 season, with league matches scheduled to begin in all approved venues across the federation on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

Following the season’s ceremonial kick-off match on April 16, the NLO Secretariat granted a seven-day grace period to allow clubs to finalize all registration processes. That grace period has now expired, and full league action is set to resume nationwide.

In a statement released by the NLO Board and Secretariat, all participating clubs and their affiliate bodies have been reminded to strictly comply with league regulations to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted season.

Key Directives Issued by the NLO Secretariat:

Clubs that fail to complete their registration procedures will not be permitted to participate in the 2025 league season.

Any club that has not met its financial obligations, including the payment of the mandatory ₦300,000 participation fee, will also be barred from taking part.

Clubs without duly signed and sealed player licenses from the NLO Secretariat will be disqualified from participating in fixtures.

The NLO emphasized its zero-tolerance stance on non-compliance, noting that no undertakings or promises of future compliance will be accepted, as the participation fees serve as logistics funds for the running of the season.

Additionally, clubs have been reminded to observe the following:

Strict adherence to Rulebook Article 2.03 regarding club jerseys: All clubs must obtain prior approval from the NLO Secretariat before featuring any form of advertisement on their kits.

Compliance with Article 4.02: Clubs must coordinate with their respective State Football Associations to ensure that their selected venues are available and suitable for NLO matches.

Compliance with Article 3.01: Full registration procedures must be completed by all clubs to be eligible for participation.

The NLO Secretariat reiterated that these measures are necessary to maintain discipline, fairness, and professionalism throughout the league season.

With these guidelines firmly in place, the 2025 NLO season promises to be competitive and better organized, as grassroots football continues to serve as the foundation for discovering future stars of Nigerian football.
