Posted : 29 March 2025

Ahead of the 2025 Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO), the Patron of Ekiti United FC, Bayo Ajayi, has donated N500,000 to the team for the welfare of players and officials, as well as the development of the club.

Ajayi made the donation during a familiarization meeting he held with the players, technical crew, and officials of the club at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti.

He stated that the donation was to support the governor’s development plans for football and the sports sector in general.

Ajayi, who described Biodun Oyebanji, the Ekiti State Governor, as a sports-loving person, said that the governor’s passion for sports motivated him to accept the role of patron.

“As the patron of Ekiti United FC, I am donating a sum of N500,000 for the welfare and development of the team.

“I am giving this money to support our amiable governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for his commitment to sports development in Ekiti.

“His love and passion for sports development in our dear state convinced me to accept the role of patron for Ekiti United FC,” he said.

Ajayi assured the team of his unwavering support and promised to provide assistance in every aspect necessary to promote the development of the team.

He commended Olusola Osetoba, Technical Advisor to the Governor on Sports Development, for her outstanding performance and achievements in promoting sports development in the state.

In response, Ekiti United team captain, Adewale Makanjuola, commended Ajayi for his support and generosity.

He promised to repay the governor and their fans with promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL) next season.

Similarly, the Secretary of the club, Samuel Idowu, also expressed gratitude to Ajayi for his support and for being a selfless leader.

Idowu assured that the management of the club would prioritize the team’s welfare.
