2025 NLO: Ikorodu City early starters with comfortable win

Posted : 25 April 2025

Two central clubs in Lagos have started their 2025 NLO Division One season with a strong performance, securing comfortable wins over their rivals.

It was a smooth start for both Collins Edwin SC and Ikorodu City FA on the opening day at the Legacy Center, after the matches at Center A and Center B.

Both teams scored four goals each, topping their respective groups after Matchday One, recording dominant results that complemented their strong performances.

Here is a summary of the 2025 Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) Matchday One matches at the Legacy Pitch, Lagos:

LEGACY Center A

Synergy Ultimate Sports W/O Trade Safe FC

Synergy Ultimate Sports were awarded a walkover victory after Trade Safe FC failed to meet the statutory obligations to play the match.

It’s a disappointing start for Trade Safe, but they will hopefully bounce back in subsequent matches.

On the flip side, it was an easy 3 points and 3 goals for Synergy Ultimate Sports Club.

Magic Stars 1-1 Dosu Joseph FC

A tightly contested match saw both sides share the spoils. Magic Stars and Dosu Joseph FC showed flashes of quality but lacked the clinical edge to secure all three points.

A fair result in a balanced tie, setting the season rolling in Group A.

Emmydinho FC 1-0 Divine Praise FC

Emmydinho FC ground out a hard-fought 1-0 win over Divine Praise FC.

A disciplined defensive performance combined with a first-half strike by Eletu Ismail proved enough to seal the win and start their campaign positively.

Victory FC 3-2 Smart City Feeders

One of the most entertaining fixtures of the day, as Victory FC came from a goal down to score three second-half goals and edge Smart City Feeders in a five-goal thriller.

Both teams played attacking football, but Victory’s composure in the final third swung the tide of the game in their favor after Smart City Feeders started like a house on fire.

North York FC 0-4 Collins Edwin SC

Collins Edwin SC delivered a statement performance, crushing North York FC with a 4-0 scoreline.

From start to finish, Collins Edwin dominated possession, created numerous chances, and executed clinical finishes to top Group A early.

LEGACY Center B

Switch FC 0-0 Ojodu FC

A goalless draw in this evenly matched contest. Both teams had opportunities but lacked the cutting edge.

Defenses stood firm in a tactical battle, and both sides settled for a point each.

A disappointing result for Ojodu City FC, a team that played in the playoffs last season, against Switch FC, who are making their first appearance.

Mavlon FC 1-0 The Lord’s Favoured FC

Mavlon FC opened their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win, courtesy of a penalty goal by Elisha Ephraim.

A solid team effort and a crucial goal ensured they claimed all three points against a spirited Lord’s Favoured side.

Dannaz FC 1-4 Ikorodu City FA

Ikorodu City FA announced themselves as serious contenders with a commanding 4-1 win over Dannaz FC.

Their quick transitions and sharp attacking play proved too much for Dannaz, who struggled to cope with the intensity, with Okeh Emmanuel and Ezekiel Samuel each scoring twice.

Gbagada FC 2-0 Crime Fighters FC

Gbagada FC started their season strongly, dispatching Crime Fighters FC 2-0.

They maintained control throughout the game and took their chances well, showing promise as a well-organized unit.

Spartan FC 3-1 Lion Heart FC

Spartan FC impressed with a convincing 3-1 win. Despite a brief fightback from Lion Heart, Spartan’s attack proved too dangerous, sealing all three points with flair and confidence as Musa Said scored a brace.

As the NLO season unfolds, these early results set the tone for what promises to be a competitive and exciting campaign.

Action will continue on Saturday (26 April 2025) at Center A with Matchday Two, while Center B will see Matchday Two matches on Sunday, 27 April 2025.
