Actions continued on Day 2 of the U17 WAFU championship currently ongoing in Cape Coast, Ghana. Nigeria's Golden Eaglets started the defense of the cup won in the last edition on a shaky note as the team was held to a barren draw by Burkina Faso.
The competition started on Wednesday with the Black Starlets of Ghana walloping Ivory Coast 5-1. However, the defending champions Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets took to the field against the Young Etalons of Burkina Faso on Thursday, and it was never meant to be as the game ended in a goalless draw.
The Nigerian lads dominated the game from the blast of the whistle but failed to convert the numerous chances that came their way.
Despite keeping the Burkinabe at bay for most of the game, they could only record a scoreless draw.
Meanwhile, the second game of the group involving Togo and Niger was postponed by the organizers.
The organizers cited logistical reasons for the postponement of the game.
