2024 Unity Preseason Tournament gets Aug. 11 kick-off date

Organizers of the Unity Preseason Tournament have fixed Sunday, August 11, as the kick-off date for the 2024 edition of the tournament.


Announcing this in Abuja, the General Coordinator of the tournament, Patrick Ngwaogu (Odogwu), stated that the tournament, which will take place in Abuja, will run from August 11 to August 18, 2024.


He explained that the tournament, which is the flagship event in the Northern region, aims to ensure that the teams are adequately prepared for the 2024/2025 league season.


Ngwaogu, who was the first Vice Chairman of the FCT Football Association, said all the expected clubs have been notified, and they are very excited about it. They are prepared to use the Abuja tournament as a rehearsal for the new season.


It is worth noting that the tournament, now in its fourth edition, has showcased players like Frederick Benjamin, formerly of SimonBen Academy, and Onuche Ogbelu, formerly of Fosla Academy, to national team selectors. Both players later represented the U-20 national team before pursuing their careers overseas.
