2024 President Federation Cup: Shooting Stars labour to defeat Solutions FC 3-2 via penalties

Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan has advanced to the next round of the 2024 President Federation Cup after beating non-league side Solution FC 3-2 via penalties.


The Oluyole Warriors had to come from behind after going a goal down, as Solutions FC opened the scoring in the 78th minute to shock the Oluyole Warriors at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin-City, Edo State.


Bamidele Ayodeji's free kick missed the target as Shooting Stars pressed for the equalizer in the 86th minute. Substitute Mustapha Adams finally got the equalizer just before the end of regulation time.


The 8-time champions of the tournament eventually edged Solutions FC 3-2 via a penalty shootout to book a place in the round of 32 of the oldest club competition in Nigeria.


In the ensuing penalty shootout, Gali Falke had his kick saved, while the trio of Mustapha Adams, Ayodeji Bamidele, and Alex Aghahowa converted theirs.


Goalkeeper Odah Okemute dived well enough to save Solution FC’s last kick after they had initially missed two kicks, thus rendering Shooting Stars’s last kick inconsequential.
