The Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) has imposed a fine of N1 million on Inter Lagos FC, the winners of the 2024/2025 Lagos State President Federation Cup.
The fine was imposed after an investigation concluded, amid controversy surrounding the newly crowned champions. Inter Lagos is facing disciplinary action for the misconduct of their supporters during the final.
The match, held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, saw Inter Lagos defeat former champions Ikorodu City in an intense encounter.
However, celebrations took an ugly turn when some Inter Lagos supporters stormed the VIP section, causing disruptions that left dignitaries, stakeholders, and top government officials in shock and disappointment.
Following the incident, the Disciplinary Committee of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) convened at the Surulere Secretariat to address the matter. Chaired by LSFA Vice-Chairman Adedotun Coker, the committee deliberated extensively on the act of indiscipline, which tarnished the competition’s reputation.
Despite a plea for leniency from Inter Lagos’ management, led by club President Lanre Vigor and General Manager Gabriel Adigwe, the committee imposed a N1 million fine on the club.
Additionally, Inter Lagos must issue a public apology to the Lagos State football community through media channels.
The ruling underscores the LSFA’s commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding the integrity of football in the state.
