Edo State Sports Commission boss Yussuf Alli (Olympian) has charged the Ancient City-based Queens to do the State proud as they begin the quest for the President Federation Cup title race in Abuja.
Edo Queens, who reached the semifinals last season, will savor a chance at the Area 3 football field in Abuja against Kada Queens of Kaduna, a Nationwide league side that will soon metamorphose into the National State League.
Addressing the players in the camp before their departure for Abuja, Yusuf restated the State government's commitment to ensuring that Edo State regains its premier position in the annals of Nigerian sports.
"As we launch out in search of laurels, I want to charge you all to be good ambassadors of the State.
"You are aware we have a very big task ahead of us; the government is doing its best in terms of welfare and logistics. We have two major competitions ahead of us, so we must all strive for prominence and raise Edo State's name in the calendar of the President Federation Cup and also in the Super six medal list.
"Having qualified for the NWFL Super six tournament, every one of us here will be elated to be champions of this year's editions.
"The campaign for the FA cup and Super six has started; we must be focused, work as one united family so that we can achieve the needed result at the end.
"Despite little challenges during the regular season of the NWFL premiership, I want to thank you all for making it to the Super six. Edo Queens is a brand in the Nigeria Women Football calendar, so it is our collective responsibility to keep the flag flying.
"We need a thank you trophy to present to the Executive Governor His Excellency Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and the good people of Edo State to show for their massive support.
"On our side, we will continue to provide the necessary logistics needed for Edo Queens and Bendel Insurance FC to excel. We have to stay positive in all our actions; you know that the Super six involves six NWFL premiership giants, so we must play like potential champions.
"I know Edo Queens will not disappoint us. We will continue to support you to make this project a reality."
