Osun United were no match for Shooting Stars, who claimed the South-West Derby bragging rights in the 12th edition of the Optima Energy Gold Cup preseason tournament.
The Group B Matchday 2 fixture, played on Sunday at the FC Ebedei Stadium in Sagamu, saw Osun United being taught a football lesson, while a poor decision by Mutiu Ganiyu cost his team dearly.
In a game of two halves, it took the Oluyole Warriors just six minutes to tear apart the defense of the Omolubi Giants and take the lead. Yaya Idris scored with a cool finish from close range.
The Omolubi Giants, who had been sloppy in the first half, got energized, and former Shooting Stars striker Ebenezer Odeyemi equalized by slotting the ball past Mustapha Lawal in the 13th minute.
With the score level at halftime, the second half saw Shooting Stars take control of the game. They were awarded a penalty after Mutiu Ganiyu fouled Malachi Ohawume in the box. Abubakar Aliu converted the penalty with no mistake, giving Shooting Stars the lead.
Two minutes later, Victor Ehibe scored the third goal for Shooting Stars, sealing the win and securing the first three points for 3SC.
