A dazzling performance from Ariehi Kparobo saw his superb half-volley shot propel Beyond Limits to a back-to-back Optima Energy Gold Cup final at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
Both teams produced some fireworks in the opening 44 minutes to the delight of fans who came to catch a glimpse of the first semi-final.
Being the only team to win all its group matches in the 12th edition of the nation’s prestigious off-season tournament, Beyond Limits dominated possession, recording four shots on goal with one off target.
Kparobo then stole the show in the 45th minute with a sublime strike from out of the blue, giving Beyond Limits the lead at halftime and increasing his goal tally to three as he chases the top scorer’s award from Ikorodu City’s Thankgod Chilaka.
The second half was balanced, with FC Ebedei searching for an equalizer, but Beyond Limits’ defense held firm.
Both teams made substitutions to change the dynamics of the game, but Beyond Limits maintained their lead.
The best moment for FC Ebedei came in the final minute of regular time, when they had a chance to take the game to penalties. However, Olaide Owoyemi’s effort found the side netting, leaving Beyond Limits just one game away from being crowned the 2024 Optima Energy Gold Cup champions.
