For the entire 90 minutes of the game between Ojodu City FC and Kogi United FC, no goal was recorded, as the second game of Group A in the ongoing New Year Mega Lottery/Nationwide League One Super 8 tournament ended in a barren draw at the Bwari Township Stadium in Abuja.
The first five minutes saw both teams looking comfortable playing in the middle of the pitch. While Kogi United FC took their time studying their opponents, the Lagos boys were pushing them back into their comfort zone.

Both sides seemed to have studied the Bwari Township Stadium pitch in record time, as the Lagos boys came knocking on Kogi United FC’s door almost immediately. They nearly scored early in the game when a cross was delivered to Ukale Olatunji, who rose high and headed the ball in, but Abdulrasheed Sadiq was alert and made the save.
Kogi United FC also came close in the 10th minute when Salisu Tanko delivered a pass to Abdulwahab Jibril. Jibril quickly turned, dribbled past a defender, and attempted to advance toward goal but was brought down.
Lawal Dauda's free kick was kept out by Aluko Victor, who stretched to his full length to prevent Kogi United from taking the lead.
Anthony Jegede also had an opportunity when Salihu Abdullahi Alfa sent him a cross from outside the box, but his resulting header went wide.
Kogi United faced a scare when Monday Godswill and Kolawole Abbas caused havoc in their defensive zone. However, another chance to put the Confluence State team ahead was thwarted when Abdulwahab Jibril was hacked down.
Thirty minutes into the game, Anthony Jegede combined well with Abdulwahab Jibril, who powered home another effort that was deflected out. Both teams maintained this intensity until the end of the first half.
The second half was action-packed, with both teams going all out against each other. However, every attempt to score was met with solid defensive performances, as Moses Kayode and Hassan Lawal stood firm for Kogi United.
Coach Chidi Oji brought on Nasiru Umar and Chinedu Okafor to replace Anthony Jegede and Salisu Tanko in the 57th minute. The tempo of the game changed immediately, as Kogi United gained some appreciable advantage in attack.
The newly introduced Nasiru Umar got two good chances to put United in front in the 71st minute but narrowly missed his target on both occasions. The second effort was parried away by Aluko Victor.
Towards the end of the game, Kogi United goalkeeper Abdulrasheed Sadiq was called into action and, as usual, performed superbly to ensure the spoils were shared.
After the game, Technical Adviser Chidi Oji promised to make slight adjustments and changes in tomorrow’s match to ensure the team converts their chances into goals.
Kogi United FC will face De-Sapele Lions FC tomorrow at 10 a.m. The Lions previously fell to Abuja-based Family Worship FC, 3-0, at the same venue.
