2024 NWFL Super 6: Confluence Queens Step Up for Hostilities in Bayelsa

Posted : 16 May 2024

Confluence Queens, runners-up in Group A of the NWFL Premiership, have declared their unwavering focus and readiness for the upcoming Super Six playoffs.

This Lokoja-based club, led by Coach Sabo Okala, will battle for the championship title alongside powerhouses like Heartland Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, and Bayelsa Queens.

Confluence Queens recently held a team photoshoot, emphasizing their strong bond and unity, according to Team Manager Mrs. Tosin Ojo Olorunleke.

She believes this camaraderie has been a key ingredient in their success so far.

“The photoshoot showcased our strong bond and unity ahead of the playoffs.

“This has been a secret weapon for our achievements, and everyone embraced the idea. We’re happy with the outcome.”

Confluence Queens' management further said that the team was determined to translate the positive spirit into on-field success as they aim to surpass their regular-season performance and achieve a “happy ending” at the playoffs held in Yenagoa.

“We want to give back to the management and the state government for their unwavering support throughout the season.

“We believe winning the Super Six is the best way to show our gratitude.”

Confluence Queens’ previous best finish was a second-place showing in the 2018 playoffs, where they narrowly lost the final to Rivers Angels.

The Kogi Ladies will be aiming to rewrite history and claim the NWFL Premiership title this time around.

The team is expected to depart Lokoja for Yenagoa on Thursday in preparation for the opening match scheduled for Saturday.
