The die is now cast as Clever Warriors FC of Kano will face Barau FC at the Bwari Stadium in FCT Abuja in the first round playoff of the New Year Mega Lottery Nationwide League One, NLO 24.
The Kano warlords arrived in the Federal Capital Territory in good time to honor the playoff fixture, in their quest to pursue their dream of securing a place in the second most prestigious football league in Nigeria, the National League (NNL), for the next football season.
The warriors arrived in FCT with a battle-ready squad of 20 players, alongside the technical crew and backroom staff. The club's media officer, Musbahu Bala Cediya, disclosed Tuesday night that the players were in good physical and medical condition.
According to him, the players have settled down in FCT Abuja, and they have undergone a shake-up session. "We have perfected our tactics ahead of the crucial encounter," he said.
Clever Warriors' technical crew, led by Bashir Yakasai, popularly known as Lemy, will rely on the high goal-scoring power of their side to overcome Barau FC, whose weakness is evident in their low goal-scoring capacity.
Musbahu said, "We are going into the match against Barau FC with our superior firepower. Our arsenal is intact, as shown in our matches on the road to the playoffs. We have demonstrated that we are a high goal-scoring side, a team with character.
"Our coaches are experienced and vigilant. We know what is required to be done at this level to ensure our boys retain their mental strength. We have studied the weaknesses of our opponents, Barau FC, and our coaches have worked it all out.
"We will approach the match with the tenacity required technically. We have the advantage in all departments of the game. Our players are versatile, determined, brave, and focused. We will not let our guard down at this stage, as we know how important it is to stay focused.
"Experience will count, and the match will be decided from the bench. We have a rich bench, so your guess and permutation are as good as mine.
"We appeal to our fans to pray for us. Also, it is important that we all invoke the spirit of fair play prior to, during, and after the match," Musbahu said.
