Organisers of the third-tier domestic football league, NLO1 (Nationwide League One), have taken decisive action against Campos FC, Owerri, following the unsavory incident that marred their playoff match against St Nwadinso, Oba, near Onitsha, Anambra State, on Sunday.

The organisers suspended several players and officials of the club after they were accused of assaulting the match official who presided over the match, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

In a summary jurisdiction issued on Sunday evening, the NLO Secretariat stated that it made the decision after reviewing the match officials' reports.

"The Nationwide League One Secretariat received a report of assault on match officials by players and officials of Campos FC, Imo State, in their match against St Nwadinso, Imo State," the summary jurisdiction stated.

"It was reported by the match officials that seven players and three officials of Campos FC assaulted the center referee after the match, causing injury to the referee and other officials of the Imo State Football Association.

"The most disturbing aspect was the involvement of the CEO and Team Manager of Campos FC.

"Video evidence shows how the CEO and TM of Campos FC invaded the pitch during the match.

"The NLO rules and regulations, articles 4:12 (2&3) and 4:13, are sacrosanct and shall be applied.

"The listed players and officials are hereby suspended indefinitely from all NLO matches. Their participation in any Campos FC match shall be met with serious sanctions."

The league body listed the affected players as follows:

1. Williams Chimezie - Jsy. 14
2. Awulonu Chidiebere - Jsy. 5
3. Eke Chukwuebuka - Jsy. 4
4. Opara Malvin - Jsy. 17
5. Ikechukwu P. Osuji (CEO Campos FC)
6. Nurse of Campos FC
7. Henry Onwuzuruike (TM Campos FC)

The match is hereby awarded to St Nwadinso FC with 3 points and 3 goals (Art. 4:12. 2&3). This decision shall be forwarded to the NFF for a Nationwide Ban on Football activities.

The above decision is taken in line with the rules and regulations of the Nationwide League One, and the club has the right to appeal.
