The coach confirmed that his ambition aligns with the primary goal of the club's management, as they are providing him with the necessary support to achieve promotion from Nigeria's third-tier league, NLO, into the second tier, NNL, in the upcoming season.
In an exclusive interview at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, following Ottasolo FC’s 1-0 victory over NNL side, Inter Lagos, during the Lagos FA/MultiSports Pre-Season Football Competition, Sallah disclosed that the team has the capability to compete in the NNL, and they are determined to secure promotion this time after narrowly missing out last season.
“We have what it takes to play in the NNL, and we came very close to gaining promotion last season.
“We lost the play-off to a very disciplined side, FC Ebiede, but we are ready to go for it this season."
“We are working hard to promote the team from the NLO to the NNL, and we believe we have what it takes to get the job done with hard work, determination, discipline, and dedication,” said coach Abiola Sallah.
The coach expressed his delight with the team’s progress ahead of next season’s challenges, especially how their tactical discipline helped them withstand a second-half onslaught after Ottasolo FC took the lead in the first half.
“It was a very good first half, but in the second half, we lost possession too easily, and our players were slow to react to the second ball. However, their experience showed in how they resisted everything Inter Lagos threw at them,” said coach Sallah, who is also looking to strengthen the squad before the 2024/2025 NLO season begins.
“There is room to bring in more players, especially in the midfield and attack. As you can see, it's a work in progress for us, and we will continue to bring in quality players who can help us achieve our goal,” coach Abiola concluded.
