Title holders Kebbi Fishers and Anambra Warriors will aim for a second consecutive win as they face each other in today’s opening match of day 2 action at the Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) in Kaduna.
Yesterday, two goals each from Hassan Abdullahi and Fuwad Badmus propelled Africa’s top-ranked team, the Fishers, to a commanding 6-2 victory over rivals Kebbi United BSC. Meanwhile, the Anambra Warriors narrowly edged Kada BSC 5-4.
Later today at 5pm, Kada and Kebbi United will clash in the second match, with both teams desperate for a victory.
To secure a win for Kada, their leading scorer in consecutive league matches, Dozie Frank, will need to replicate his performance after scoring a brace in yesterday's match, although it wasn't enough in the 4-5 loss against the Warriors.
Despite Kada's setback, Kaduna State Sports Commissioner Alhaji Mukhtar Abdullahi remains optimistic about the team's prospects in future matches and their chances of clinching the title.
"It wasn't demoralizing. I assure you that in their next match, you will see what they are capable of, and I am confident that we will emerge as champions of this league. Trust me," he affirmed.
"By God's grace, the national team camp will commence on Sunday. We are in discussions with the NFF, and I assure you that everything will be well."
