As teams prepare for the 2024 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) Super 4, the captains of the four participating teams have been talking tough.
The Super 4, which will determine the league winners for the 2024 season, will kick off on July 4 and run through to July 6 at the Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna State.
Four teams—Kebbi BSC, Kada BSC, Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors, and Kebbi United BSC—will jostle for the league title.
The players, in their reactions ahead of the season-deciding finale, said they are ready to outshine themselves.
Ekene Obi, the skipper of Kebbi BSC, is optimistic that his team will emerge victorious.
"I know that we will face some difficulties, but we should enjoy the game as players and be happy for it.
"For us, as defending champions, we will keep our heads up, enjoy the game, and hopefully retain the title."
Gabriel Chinweze, Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors skipper, said featuring for the first time in the Super 4 won't be a barrier to good performances from the players.
"We are very happy to be here. This is the first time we will be at the Super 4, and we hope to win it," he said.
Joseph Stanley, Kebbi United BSC captain, said that although his team would also be participating for the first time, they will give their all.
"I want to thank God for journey mercies. This will be the first time we are also coming here for the Super 4.
"I know it won't be easy, but we will give our best to win the title.
"I want to thank the president for what he has done. Every youth wants to play beach soccer on the street due to his initiatives.
"For the Super 4, we shall meet on Thursday when the title begins."
Dozie Frank, Kada BSC captain, said that as former champions, the team would like to reclaim the title.
"Concerning the Super 4, we are the former champions. Kebbi BSC won the first edition here. We went to their home ground to win it. This is the fourth edition in Kaduna.
"We know it won't be easy. I hope the best team wins.
"I wish everyone a hitch-free tournament and hope everyone returns home safely."
