2024 Green Lock Summer Tournament: Best Talent FC zooms to final

Best Talent Football Club of Mowe has qualified for the final of the Green Lock Summer Tournament taking place in Ikenne, Ogun State, after playing a 1-1 draw against Magic Stars.


Boasting an unbeaten run in the tournament, where the Integrity Club gathered 7 points in a group initially deemed a "group of ballers," the Mowe giants edged out Star Builders FC in the tournament opener with a 1-0 victory.


The decisive 5-2 win over TCCG FC in their second match put them in a strong position, only to settle for a 1-1 draw in a keenly contested encounter against Magic Stars FC.


In another match, Green Lock FC's path to the final was not without its challenges, as they had to dig deep to secure a tough 0-0 draw against Right 2 Win FC in their last group game.


As it stands, the battle will be between two top coaches, as former Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan's Yinka Popoola Gullit will lead Best Talent FC against Coach Bolarinwa, whose strategic acumen and his team's resilience leading Green Lock will be put to the test.


Coach Idris led his side to a double 1-0 victory over Ojodu City and Grass Runners FC, showcasing their tactical prowess and determination.


The tactician's ability to incorporate in-game tactical adjustments has been instrumental in Green Lock FC's success, and his reputation as one of Nigeria's fast-rising coaching talents continues to grow.


The third place match will be between TCCG and Grass Runners FC, as both teams emerged as runners-up from their groups. While TCCG qualified with 4 points, Grass Runners FC secured 6 points to reach the losers' final.


The stage is now set for the much-anticipated final clash at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, as Best Talent will put their skills to the test against Green Lock FC.


While the third place match will take place at 8 a.m., the final will be held at 10 a.m.
