Nigeria's Women's Premier League champions, Edo Queens, have finished as the fourth-best team in the 2024 CAF Women's Champions League after losing the third-place match in the tournament in Casablanca, Morocco, 4-3 to FC Masar in a shootout.
The Nigerian team had managed to maintain their momentum, absorbing all that the Egyptian champions threw at them throughout the 90 minutes of regulation, ending in a goalless draw before the shootout began.

On Saturday evening, Edo Queens produced an incredible performance, coming from behind to beat African champions Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the final Group B match of the CAF Women's Champions League to qualify for the semifinals of the tournament in Casablanca, Morocco, for the first time.
Nigeria's representatives' progress was halted by TP Mazembe of DR Congo in the semifinal clash on Tuesday, resulting in a dramatic 3-1 setback for the Benin girls.
In a post-match interview, the head coach of Edo Queens highlighted the positives of the tournament and also pointed out areas where his team fell short.
"We have learned our lessons. We started very well but faltered without scoring goals at the critical stage of the tournament."
"We are going back to the drawing board to work on our weaknesses. I am not happy that we were not scoring."
"We learned a lot, and next time I am sure we will do better."
"This is our first time. The teams and the tournament were not too much for us. It was just that our plans did not work. Next time, we are going to be better," Adukwu said.
The Nigeria Women's Premier League champions, Edo Queens, began the tournament in Morocco with a 3-0 victory over Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, with Emem Essien, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Goodness Osigwe scoring for the Queens.
They settled for a goalless draw in their second match with Masar FC of Egypt before the final group game, where they stunned the defending champions 2-1.
