2024/2025 Season: Newly appointed Rivers Angels Coach, Tosan Blankson, targets NWFL crown

Rivers Angels' new head coach, Tosan Blankson, has set a significant target for the former champions in the upcoming Nigeria Women Football League Premiership.


The former Delta Queens coach described the Jewels of Rivers as a glamorous club, and he aspires to bring more success to the team ahead of the new season.


He believes the Port Harcourt-based side are title contenders and is ready to rise to the challenge.


“All I can say about my appointment at Rivers Angels FC is that it’s all about continuity. Rivers Angels FC is the most glamorous club in Nigeria. I consider myself lucky and am ready to work hard.


“My aspiration with Rivers Angels is to work closely with the players and have a strong understanding with the management to build a team that will compete with other clubs. This goal aligns with the club’s ongoing target.


“Rivers Angels has always been a contender and never a pretender every season. So the expectations remain the same.”


Blankson praised Delta Queens for the opportunity to lead the club and for the wonderful experiences he had with them.


“My time at Delta Queens was a great period and an opportunity to develop my coaching career in women's football,” he continued.


“All along, I have been involved in coaching men’s teams. Under the former chairman of the sports commission, I learned a lot, and I would like to thank him (Chief Tonobok Okowa) for contributing to my growth in the profession.”
