2024/2025 season: Kwara United FC unveils 17 players

Posted : 22 August 2024

Kwara United FC on Thursday announced the arrival of 17 players from the top-flight Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL).

The newly recruited players were unveiled by the Harmony Boys as part of their ceremony to kick off the new league season.

The players will join 18 other existing members of the team as part of the club's preparations for the upcoming season.

Ifeanyi Ogba, former Rangers International mobile attacker; Ayeleso Suraj, seasoned NPFL goalkeeper from Plateau United; and Akanni Akeem from Sporting Lagos are among the 17 players joining the Harmony Boys, as Kwara United is fondly called.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony held at the multimillion-naira Sugar Film Factory in Ilorin, Bashir Badawiy, General Manager of Kwara United, represented by the club's chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, said that the recruitment process was meticulous.

"We undertook tours in Ikenne in Ogun, Lagos, and Bayelsa states just so we could pick the right blend of players for the season.

"As you have seen from the players, we have the right blend of ages, featuring both young and experienced footballers," Badawiy said.

Reeling out match data and statistics from the tour and invitational tournaments played in the three states, the club GM said Kwara United remains a formidable team to play.

"We hardly concede goals. We have beaten top-rated clubs, including Al-Merreikh of Sudan, a continental giant.

"We still have days to spare in our training schedule, and I can assure you that the boys will be ready to fire on all cylinders as soon as the league commences," he said.
