Naija Ratels FC of FCT on Wednesday defeated visiting Adamawa Queens FC 2-0 on Matchday 9 of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (Premiership) in Abuja.
In the Group B encounter played at the Bwari City Stadium, Grace Saliu scored a brace to hand the home team the maximum three points on the day.
Earlier in the game, Naija Ratels proved the better of the two teams as they created numerous goal-scoring opportunities.
Saliu scored her first goal 12 minutes into the game after she ran past Adamawa Queens' defenders to slot the ball in.
Ratels looked confident with their 1-0 lead, but Saliu extended the scoreline when she volleyed a cross with a header seven minutes before the end of regulation time, ensuring a comfortable win for the home side.
Naija Ratels now have 17 points from nine games and are third on the table, while their counterparts from Adamawa have seven points from the same number of games but are seventh on the table.
