Ibom Angels put up a valiant fight against Rivers Angels on Matchday 9 of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership but ultimately fell short in a highly competitive match.
The encounter took place at Uyo Township Stadium.
Despite the loss, the team's grit and determination were on full display, earning them praise from fans and critics alike.
The Orange Ladies created several scoring opportunities throughout the game, especially in the first half, as the team's strikers came close to finding the back of the net on multiple occasions.
However, it was not their day as Rivers Angels capitalized on a defensive error in the 62nd minute through Mary Moses to score the only goal of the match.
The team's coach, Edwin Okon, expressed pride in his players' performance, saying, "I'm proud of the girls for the fight they put up. We may not have gotten the result we wanted, but we'll take the lessons from this game and come back stronger."
Ibom Angels' next game will be against Bayelsa Queens FC in Yenagoa next Wednesday, April 2nd. Bayelsa Queens, in their last game, defeated Delta Queens FC 1-0 in Asaba.
