Posted : 24 January 2025

The 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Match Day 2 delivered thrilling football action across the nation, with standout performances from Remo Stars Ladies, Robo Queens, and Abia Angels.

A total of 16 goals were scored, with five home wins, one away victory, and two draws.

Both Remo Stars Ladies and Robo Queens maintained their perfect starts to the season.

Remo Stars Ladies continued their unbeaten run, securing a slim 1-0 victory over Ekiti Queens at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.

The lone goal came from Olamide Bolaji, who found the net in the 52nd minute to secure all three points for her team.

Meanwhile, FC Robo Queens also maintained their impressive start to the season, defeating Adamawa Queens 2-1 in Lagos.

Despite an early lead from Adamawa’s Tarfa Anastasia in the 24th minute, Robo Queens responded through Favour Nkwocha in the 56th minute, with Opeyemi Ajakaye clinching the win with a last-minute goal.

Abia Angels, in another NWFL Match Day 2 fixture, delivered a dominant performance in Umuahia, defeating Nasarawa Amazons 3-0.

Merit Offor opened the scoring in the 20th minute, capitalizing on a goalmouth scramble.

The lead was doubled before halftime by Dorothy Eshiet in the 38th minute. Late in the game, Chiamaka Ojiafor added the third goal in the 86th minute to seal the victory.

Nasarawa Amazons struggled despite creating chances, with efforts from Janet Igbokwe, Shola, and Shobowale failing to convert.

The Amazons will aim to recover from this loss in their next fixture against Confluence Queens in Ayingba, Kogi State.

Elsewhere, Bayelsa Queens were held to a goalless draw at the Uyo Township Stadium by an impressive Ibom Angels side.
