2024/2025 NWFL Match Day 13: Nasarawa Amazons edge Edo Queens 1-0 in Lafia

Nasarawa Amazons FC secured a crucial 1-0 win over Edo Queens in Matchday 13 of the NWFL Premiership at the Lafia City Stadium. Akekoromowei Janet's 89th-minute goal, assisted by Mathias Josephine, sealed the victory and guaranteed Nasarawa Amazons' qualification for the Super Six stage.


The win maintained Nasarawa Amazons' 100 percent home-winning record in the 2024/2025 NWFL Premiership season. Edo Queens, who had already qualified for the Super Six, fielded a different lineup, but Nasarawa Amazons' determination paid off.


With this victory, Nasarawa Amazons have now won all 7 home matches, and have 2 away wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses from 13 games. The team sits second in Group A and hopes for a strong performance in the Super Six.


Akekoromowei Janet, the match-winner, said, "I thank God Almighty for the goal and the win. We focus on one game at a time, and qualifying for the Super Six is our priority."


Coach Christopher Danjuma added, "Our target is to qualify for the CAF Women's Champions League, and to do that, we need to win the Super Six in Ikenne."


Nasarawa Amazons will now travel to Owerri to face Heartland Queens in the final matchday of the regular season next week.
