2024/2025 NPFL season: Shooting Stars' Coach, Ogunbote, woos fans ahead of league's second stanza

The coach of the Shooting Stars Football Club of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, has asked the team's fans to be patient during the second stanza of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.


Ogunbote said, "There is a need to appeal to the fans regarding this, as we are at a very critical point where we need to behave well so that we do not face points and goals deductions."


He explained that things may not go as planned immediately, which is why we need to remain calm and understand that things will improve over time.


He added, "The supporters do not pose a problem, but fans who might throw stones or use cudgels against referees—whose officiating may not be favorable to us during matches—should refrain from doing so, as it could lead to points and goals deductions."


The former coach of Rangers, Sunshine Stars, and Enyimba football clubs stated that it would not be ideal to experience the same fate as Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia, who had three points and three goals deducted from the points and goals earned in their matches.


He urged the fans to conduct themselves well, as violence or taking matters into their own hands will not help the team, but will instead result in the Oluyole Warriors being banished to away grounds and facing points and goals deductions at the end of the day.
